  • Rylie is totally into throwing her food on the kitchen floor these days (usually when she is done eating). More than anything, I think she anticipates what my reaction will be after she’s done her deed. I can see her smiling and just waiting for me to freak out. From her pinching, hitting and biting stages, I’ve learned to play it cool and not make it a big deal. The stage seems to pass soon after she realizes my reactions are no fun. I’m hoping it will be the same with her throwing the food on the floor stage.

I’m thoroughly surprised by the food Rylie enjoys eating. Grandma Oh brought over some banchans this week, and she couldn’t stop eating the tempura and sauteed green beans. She also enjoys eating kimchee, mul kimchee, salad, and gobo root. Since Rylie can eat a variety of food now, we enjoy going to Souplantation. Her favorites are the Ceasar Salad, olives (like daddy), beets, peas, pasta, pizza, blueberry muffin, clam chowder, and we can’t forget the frozen yogurt (like mommy).

Christmas is coming up soon, so I’m working on a mini project as gifts for both our parents. I think both our sisters read our xangas, so I won’t mention what it is, but below are a couple of pics Youkeun took during the shoot at my parents.

She looks like such a big girl here! Thank you emo for the uggs!!!

Pictures are so hard to take now. This is the only picture Youkeun was able to take of us before she took off running

  • I love Hello Kitty

I used to love, love, LOVE Hello Kitty when I was a little kid… and guess what? So does Rylie. My mom used to take me to Sanrio and it was a weird feeling taking my own daughter into the store I wanted to live in at one time. She must have gone through 8 purses until finally finding THE ONE. It just cracks me up to see her attached to bags and shoes, but it must be a girl thing.

I came home from the market and found her w/ this tattoo

w/ the wallet purse she finally chose

  • We didn’t have anything planned for Halloween, so we decided to check out the Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark. In addition to their pumpkin patch, they had a mini zoo which was perfect for Rylie. She fell in  with the emu and was a little upset that the fence was keeping her away from touching the cow.

a little reserved in the beginning

  • Rylie’s Dol

Here are some (way overdue) pictures from Rylie’s Dol

Loved!!! The cake and cupcakes made by our friend Jessica. We saved the cake and ate it on Rylie’s actual birthday. It was delicious!

  • First Times

These past few weeks have been exciting for Rylie. She’s experienced a lot of “first times” and it’s been so much fun sharing these moments with her. She’s also learned how to wink, turn herself around, fly like a bird, hiss like a snake, and knows where her eyes, nose, mouth, hair, ears, belly button, and toes are.

First time at the beach in San Clemente. She loved it!

Daddy just watching as Rylie is running towards the water

First time at the Noah’s Ark exhibit at the Skirball Cultural Center. Rylie and Bella loving the rain.

    Family Pic!

Rylie with her instrument and a random bowl during music time.

It’s never too early to start learning how to use a broom and a mop!

Rylie ended up being attached to her broom and dragged it everywhere. Can you see the fake poo poo on the ground?

    “I love you Mr. Turtle”

First time getting painted at her friend, Audrey’s birthday party

First time eating chow mein! Look how happy she is.

  • Happy Birthday Rylie!

Rylie turned one today and we celebrated by going to the LA Zoo. She was in awe and called all the animals “mung” (doggie in Rylie’s vocab). I had a blast watching her bark at the kangaroo and sea lion. She also couldn’t get enough of my shaved ice and kept sticking out her tongue for more. After we came home, she went into the pool with daddy in her new princess bathing suit (she won’t be going topless anymore) and learned how to kick under water!!!

Having Rylie in our lives has been such a blessing and I am thankful each day for her. One thing I’ve looked forward to when I first found out that we were having a girl was doing all the mother-daughter girlie things. And now, I’m having so much fun watching her hold a handbag, trying to put on sunglasses, asking me to change her into a tutu or a princess bathing suit, playing shopping cart, and putting her dolls to night-night.

Running in her tutu that my sister made. That clutch once belonged to me

She decided to ditch Pekkle one day and napped with the clutch

This is her new princess bathing suit. She’s asked me to put this on her at least once a day since she received it on Sunday.

  • We needed some pictures for Rylie’s dol, so we had a mini photoshoot this past weekend. It was so much fun watching her look confused in the beginning, but she was such a good model for the next 10 min or so. After that she was off running around the park.

    smiling for daddy!

    half confused, half smiling

    she finds her freedom

and then… she is off running!

  • Dodgers Game (with our son)

We recently went to a Dodger’s Game and Youkeun was really excited to get an outfit for Rylie to wear. I always knew Youkeun wanted a son, but his purchase just confirmed it even more. He admitted he bought the hat and tank top from the boy’s section even though there were pink ones available in the girl’s section. I thought nothing of it until we put it on Rylie and even I thought she kind of looked like a boy. She took such a liking to the hat that she wants us to put it on her even in the house. Now, when Youkeun takes her out in her hat he jokingly adds, “I’m going out with our son!”

    Rylie smiling for the camera

Rylie telling daddy to hurry up! We’re late to the game.

  • Indoor Playground

It’s so hot in the valley these days that we started visiting an indoor playground near our place. Man-o-man … is all I’ve got to say. This place is 10x bigger than our place that Rylie just runs in circles dragging me along. After 5 min, I’m ready to conk out, but she seems to have enough energy to play for 2+ hours.
I like that she gets to practice her new walking skills. In fact, after her first visit, she insists on walking by holding one of my hands only… girls…so particular .
Here are a few pictures that Youkeun took

We ate some carbs before our play-marathon
