  • Rylie’s 2nd Birthday Party Slideshow

Rylie was looking forward to her birthday party for some time and was so excited that the day finally came. She had so much fun at her party and seeing all her friends there made it all the more special. Thank you to all the families that came out and made this day such a special one for Rylie. I can’t believe she is already 2 yrs old… my lil Rylie is growing up way too fast!

I also want to thank my sister for helping me prepare for Rylie’s party. I wasn’t able to think about Rylie’s party since hubby was sick for about 3 wks. It was after he came home that I realized her party was right around the corner. My sister came to the rescue and helped me with everything. Seriously, I don’t know what I would do without her. Big props to my little brother and sister for making the best pororo cake and cupcakes. Lil brother just graduated from Le Cordon Bleu pastry program not too long ago, so it was perfect timing to put his skills to use. My sister and I were his assistants and the end result was amazing.

Youkeun tried to get a picture of all the kiddos, but I think we’re missing a few. Enjoy the slideshow.

We went out to dinner the next day with my family and asked Rylie a few questions

We saved the pororo cake from her party and sang the birthday song one more time with family. She loved it, but loved the fondant even more

  • Shepherd and Rylie

Shepherd is a little boy whom Rylie plays with nearly everyday. Shepherd is a total boy… picking up snails, digging into dirt, drinking water from the hose… while Rylie is a total girl… won’t even lay a finger on the snail, will dust off her hands if she sees dirt on them, and will hold the hose while Shepherd drinks from it. His family might move back to the east coast by the end of this year, so I wanted to take a picture of them for Rylie to see whenever she misses her dear friend.

The next two are Rylie’s attempts at taking a picture of her friend.

Shepherd took off his wellies to splash in the water and guess who jumped at the opportunity to try them on?

  • Our week w/o daddy

Since hubby is recovering in the hospital, it’s just been Rylie and I for the past week. She is aware that daddy is in the hospital because he is sick and knows he will be coming home soon. She also makes sure to pray for him by asking God “help daddy feel better please.”

I didn’t want Rylie to feel any emptiness without her daddy around, so I made sure our days were filled with lots of fun and spent with our family and friends who showered her with love. I’m so thankful for my sister who came over almost everyday to help me out and for my mom who made sure our fridge was stocked with food. During this past week, Rylie went through a growth spurt, started talking even more than she does now, and all of a sudden wants to sing every song she’s been learning. I didn’t want hubby to miss out on this and made sure to document this time with lots of pictures and videos.

Here she is giving her car a wash and giving the flowers some much needed lovin’

Her favorite way of getting from one place to another.

The girls meeting each other for the first time.

    Playing with the sailboat

but soon wanted to go swimming. I convinced her to come out by telling her I would take her to the beach the next day.

got a nice tan that day.

My sister asked, “Rylie can you put eemo’s hair up?” She immediately replied, “OK!” and got to working. Not bad, eh?

Evy- this one’s for you! Thanks for everything! We  you.

simple crafting with paper, origami paper, and glue. do you notice that her ‘white baby’ has been replaced?

Her sweet little friend Shepherd gave this to her. Rylie named her ‘woman.’ I accidentally called the doll ‘baby’ and Rylie corrected me by saying, “Iz not baby. Iz woman.” I haven’t made the same mistake again.

Another project complete and on her art wall. She is so proud of the wall and says, “Rylie did allllll dat.”

More crafting supplies I picked up today for a great deal (all under $10) at Michael’s.

  • Six-eyed Rylie

    Rylie makes me laugh everyday…

Before I belted her in, she asked for all her sunglasses. I didn’t think much of it, but when I looked back a few minutes later, this is what I saw.

  • No more nap time?

Today was Rylie’s 2nd day of fighting off her afternoon nap (*sigh*). I thought kids were supposed to get rid of their nap much later (3 or 4?), so I’m totally not prepared for this. Without her afternoon nap, my day seems much longer. I also miss getting some rest while she takes her nap. It’s not that she’s not tired because she is. She gets into this weird delirious state where she talks non-stop and I can see redness around her eyes. One parent at church told me her daughter stopped taking naps at 2 yrs old and that it really depends on the child. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping this is only a phase for Rylie. If not, I’ll have to go with the flow and start taking some energy drinks to fuel me up for my longer days to come.

We also had a packed weekend. On Saturday, we went to Sunny and Eddie’s beautiful wedding (look for previews on Youkeun’s site this week). This is the 2nd wedding I attended with Rylie where Youkeun was shooting the wedding. Even though Rylie is so young, I think she already understands that daddy is hard at work. We asked her this morning what daddy was doing at the wedding and she said, “work!” She really had a blast at this wedding and was shaking her booty whenever the music came on.

Today, we went to Jonah’s dol and Rylie got a taste of  Cuban food and did some more booty shaking with daddy.

Rylie saying hello to her friend, Bella

With me and dancing with daddy. I’m wearing the necklace I started a few weeks ago. I’ll post a better picture soon!

    with her beautiful unni’s

It was so hot when we came back home that we just kept her in the diaper with the AC on full blast. I think Rylie wanted to mimic her daddy and went into action with her camera.

Checking the settings first and then shoot!

She then changed into her beanie and did some more shooting around the house

  • LA Zoo

We braved the hot weather yesterday and went to the zoo. We had so much fun seeing all the animals and hanging out with friends. Rylie loves the zoo…maybe even more than Disneyland. After every visit to the zoo, Rylie always says her favorite animal is the monkey. This was until yesterday, when she said her favorite is now the gorilla. Her must see animals list include the monkey, gorilla, zebra, and the giraffe…. and we got to see all of them and more! She also picked up a new animal in her vocab and surprised Youkeun and I when she called her ostrich puzzle a ‘flamingo.’

this was the closest we got Rylie and Addie to take a picture
