Here’s my happy baby at Americana for the first time. There were 2 must-do’s on her list: ride the Choo-choo (the trolley) and to see water. We did both and you can see below that she was super happy.

Pink Nail Polish
As soon as Rylie noticed that my toe nails were painted, she asked hers to be painted just like mommy’s. She wanted yellow, but we settled for a girly pink color instead. I’ll have to get her some yellow and blue nail polish as those were her top two choices of color. She loved getting her toe nails painted that she insisted her finger nails be painted also.
Drying her finger nails. Why the serious look???
Reagan came over during the weekend to join Rylie in the swimming pool.Chillin’ and reading their books.
Note to daddy: Please stay closer to your daughter next time…Rylie is pretty fearless when it comes to jumping in the pool

3rd trip to the doc
Today was our 3rd trip to the doctor’s office in 2 weeks. The first two trips were due to hives, which still appear on her body. It’s not considered chronic until the 7th week. If the hives still appear at that time, they’ll have to do an allergy test on her. Today’s trip was because of her cold. I noticed her getting sick yesterday when the coughing started. When we put her down for the night, she was coughing so much that she vomited. This was a first for her. I was also concerned because I noticed that she was having a hard time breathing and she was pulling on her left ear. To check for an ear infection the nurse had to flush out her ear to get the accumulated dried wax out. Both Youkeun and I had to hold her down and she was bawling/freaking out the whole time. I don’t blame her cause I was scared myself. They flushed out both ears two times and those were the biggest, hardest looking ear wax we’ve ever seen. Luckily, her ears and her breathing are fine, but she has definitely caught a cold. Hopefully, there won’t be a fourth trip any time soon. Feel better Rylie!!!
I started a little project for myself yesterday after I saw a necklace from Anthropologie that I wanted. I think I’ll be able to finish it by tonight. Here’s a sneak peak!!!

My little BIG girl
Our trips to the park are quite different than what they used to be. Rylie has become more daring and uses the playground apparatus to show off her new skills. This is another milestone for us as I don’t have to follow her every step on the apparatus anymore… which reminds me that she is growing up so fast. I can’t believe that she will be two in only 2 1/2 more months!!!

Hives
Rylie was a happy camper during lunch time yesterday. She was chomping on her miyuk gook with bap, dak gwang, fish jun, and gim. In fact, she was saying “yummmmm” and rubbing her belly.
I didn’t notice anything until after she woke up from her nap and saw some red spots on her leg, arm, and left side of the neck. I took her to the bathroom where we get better lighting, and that’s when I realized her rash was spreading. We took her to the hospital and the doc told us they were hives. We’re not really sure what could have caused it since it could be anything from what she ate to a bug bite. To be more cautious, I’m avoiding giving her anything she ate up until her lunch yesterday. She woke up with hives all over her body this morning, but they disappeared quickly after she took benadryl. I haven’t seen her scratch herself much although the doctor told me the spots are rather itchy. Hopefully, the hives will go away soon as I read they mysteriously disappear after 3-4 days.Enjoying her lunch. This girl loves her miyuk gook.Pics of the hives
Still happy in her little blue gown. I must say she enjoys going to the hospital and eating her medicine.
The weather’s been pretty gloomy, so we’ve been spending our play times mostly indoors. Rylie’s become quite an expert at blowing bubbles and I’m sure this is one of the first things she’ll want to do once the weather warms up.

Fun with Friends
We had a super busy week, but it was fun and well spent with our friends! I’m also trying to teach Rylie about “sharing,” but everything is all “mine” according to her. Even if I’m sitting on her chair, she says “my chair” and pulls my hand to get off … hehe. I told her this morning that it’s a nice thing to do by sharing her toys with her friends, so she kept saying “shae with fren” and gave it to me (pretending that I was her “fren”). After a milli second, she said “back!” We will have to practice sharing more often

Houkon!!!
It finally happened… Rylie has started calling her daddy HOUKON. You would think my name is a bit easier to say than Youkeun, but she’s still calling me mommy! She copies everything she hears, so if we really don’t want her to understand what we’re saying, we either spell it out or say it in korean. Here is a clip of Rylie saying her daddy’s name.
This week has been super hot in the valley, so we’ve been playing with water everyday. Oh how I wish for some cool breeze…

My Toe Broke
I put Rylie down for her nap and after jumping around in her crib for a few minutes I heard her yelling, “My… toe…. BROKE! My… toe… BROKE!” I looked at the monitor and saw her grabbing her toe. I knew something happened, so I went in and asked to see it. Lo and behold, I saw that a piece of her big toe nail was broken. Girl forgot to mention it was her toe nail and not her toe.
Rylie and I started going to a mommy and me class provided by our park’s recreation center. It’s only an hour a week, but she’s been enjoying every moment of it. She’s a chatterbox at home, but once she’s in the classroom setting, she’s as quiet as a mouse. Today we had fun dancing and making my mother’s day gift.

Craft Time!!!
Yesterday, Rylie discovered some plastic bins under my desk which holds tons of craft materials. Our morning quickly turned into arts and crafts time as she held the glue in one hand and tissue paper in the other. I let her chose one construction paper (she chose pink) and we were off to start on our simple tissue paper project.
She tore the tissue paper into small pieces.
We glued the tissue paper on construction paper.
Here’s the finished product!!!
She had so much fun that she went into my bin again this morning and chose craft scissors. Here we are cutting the paper together.
Using the glue and tissue paper again
Another success!!!!
Here’s where I tape all of her art work. I think we’ll need to make more room very soon.
For those interested, The Artful Parent has great craft ideas/projects for kids!
